Where to Stay in Omeo

Updated: Jan 13, 2022

That depends a bit on what you're after. We often stay in town at the caravan park. It's pretty central to town and and close to the pubs and shops. We’ve heard that, unfortunately the Caravan Park was hit by a pretty big flood last week and is currently closed. Hopefully they’ll recover soon. Give them a ring to see if they’ve reopened. It's very pleasant on the Livingstone Creek too. Pretty quiet and relaxing. There are Air BnB's around town and the Golden Age Hotel offers great meals, good service and reasonable rooms. There are good rides starting in and returning town. A MTB park is to be constructed below the town in 2022. The local swimming hole just down from the Golden Age is well worth dipping into.

The other option is camping. A great spot is on the Mitta Mitta River at Hinnomunjie Bridge. It's free but has a change room and long drop toilets (clean). Great spot for a swim in summer. There are some longer, more challenging rides that could start from there. We'll describe them at a later date. There's also camping out along the Omeo Highway at Angler's Rest or The Joker (see camping photo below). Great camping spots but a bit further away from the gravel action. You could use them if you're travelling through from Falls Creek.
